Exocytosis
A process in which a vesicle in the cytoplasm of a cell fuses with the plasma membrane to release its contents.

Fetus
In human development, an individual from the 9th week through to the time of birth.

Flagellum
A long, motile, usually single fibre-like extension of a cell. E.g. the tail of a sperm cell.

A depression in an organ or tissue.

Cells that form a stratified cuboidal epithelial lining of an egg.

Haploid (n)
In humans, 23 unpaired chromosomes instead of the usual 46 in homologous pairs. I.e. half the diploid number of a species.
